Tunnel Springs Family Session in North Salt Lake | Utah Family Photographer

Golden hour at Tunnel Springs always feels a little magical.

This family session in North Salt Lake was filled with warm sunset light, playful movement, and the kind of genuine connection that makes family photography feel less about posing and more about simply being together.

As a Utah family photographer, I’m always looking for locations that offer beautiful scenery while still allowing space for connection and storytelling—and Tunnel Springs delivers every time.

This sweet family of four spent the evening exploring the trails together while we documented everything from playful walks and laughter to quiet cuddles and genuine in-between moments. With a curious four-year-old big brother and an adventurous two-year-old little sister, the session naturally unfolded with movement, personality, and so much joy.

We captured a little bit of everything throughout the evening—family portraits together, sibling moments between brother and sister, individual portraits of the kids, and some quiet time for mom and dad to slow down and reconnect together. Some of my favorite moments came from the simple interactions: tickles, kisses, hand holding, and the natural laughter that happens when families are encouraged to move and simply enjoy being together.

One thing many people don’t realize about Tunnel Springs is that it can be incredibly busy—especially during golden hour and peak photo season. Between hikers, families, and multiple photographers shooting at once, the area is often full of activity.

The best part? You’d never know it from these images.

Part of my job as a Salt Lake City family photographer is helping families feel comfortable and creating an experience that feels relaxed and personal, no matter how busy a location may be. During this session, I was able to find quiet and secluded spots throughout Tunnel Springs that allowed us to create images that feel intimate, calm, and connected while still taking advantage of the beautiful North Salt Lake landscape and sunset glow.

That’s one of the reasons I love this location so much. Tunnel Springs offers stunning mountain views, rolling hills, and incredible golden light while still allowing plenty of room to create photographs that feel genuine and uniquely yours.

Family photography doesn’t need to feel stiff or overly posed. My approach is centered around movement, connection, and documenting the relationships that matter most—so your photos feel like memories instead of performances.
