There’s something magical about summer evenings in Big Cottonwood Canyon. The warm golden light filtering through the trees, the mountains glowing in the background, and families simply enjoying time together create the perfect setting for timeless photographs.

The Kessel family joined me for one of my summer family mini sessions in Big Cottonwood Canyon, and they were the perfect example of how much can be accomplished in just 25 minutes. With mom, dad, and their two sweet daughters, we captured a beautiful variety of images filled with connection, laughter, cuddles, and genuine moments.

One of my favorite things about this session was the incredible golden hour light. As the sun peeked through the trees and wrapped the family in a warm glow, it created that dreamy, timeless look that so many families love. The girls spent the session exploring, playing, and snuggling up with their parents, making for natural and authentic photographs that truly reflect this season of life.

Many families worry that a mini session won’t be enough time, but the Kessel family's gallery proves otherwise. In just 25 minutes, we were able to create a full gallery featuring family portraits, individual photos of each child, sibling photos, parent photos, and plenty of candid moments. Their final gallery included 25 beautifully edited images that tell the story of their family.
